Aster, is titled after the Tansyaster, a flower native to the Southwest. Aster is also the Greek word for star. Aster transforms natural patterns into a place and an experience. The array of colored planes, holding light and shadow, animate as the viewer moves around the sculpture creating unique visual experiences for pedestrians, motorists or cyclists. Like a sundial, the shadow play connects the viewer to the sky, transforming by the day, night and hour. During the day sunlight illuminates Aster, at night it radiates from an internal lighting system, creating an iconic nighttime experience.
