BJM worked with Artful Life, Rocky Mountain Youth Core and The Nature Conservancy to create a pop up park in Albuquerque’s International District. This South San Mateo Park is mobile and a model for more creative green spaces in the ID. The modular design includes planters, water catchment devices inside mural boxes and a shade structure sculpture, Iris. BJM helped design the park features with constant feedback and collaboration from the ID community. Summer 2019
The community chose fun bold colors for the park. Many neighborhood residents, including some just walking by, had a hand in the parks creation as well as looking after and watering it. The ribbon cutting included local paletas from La Michoacana and a visit from Mayor Tim Keller and U.S. Rep. Deb Haaland.
The park partners are in the process of further developing the park and acquiring more resources for a permanent home.
