Rooted in stories of belonging shaped by life and work in Albuquerque’s International District—home to the city’s highest concentration of foreign-born residents and refugees—the piece draws on local, natural, and found materials evocative of Albuquerque and the high desert of New Mexico. Collaborators include refugees from Afghanistan and Vietnam, as well as participants of Japanese, Filipino, and Diné heritage, with Artful Life, Cameron Krow, the International District, and local residents.
